AutoVue 3D Viewing Features

  • Viewer for all popular 3D model formats including CATIA, Pro/ENGINEER, Unigraphics, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Mechanical Desktop, Autodesk Inventor, Solid Designer, STEP, STL, VRML, VDA-FS, IGES 3D, etc....
  • 3D Compare: Compare 3D assemblies to determine what parts have been added, removed or changed. This unique AutoVue feature goes beyond a graphical comparison and includes the ability to detect non-graphical file attributes at the part or assembly level. View changes between design iterations, verify the integrity of a converted design and share these results with others. Navigate through an assembly and its related drafts at a click of the mouse.
  • 3D Explode: Drag a slide-bar to explode/implode an entire assembly or selected parts/subassemblies. The exploded view can be saved for future reference. This ability to dynamically explode complex assemblies allows users to get to the component level faster and create clear illustrations for control documents such as assembly and maintenance instructions.
  • 3D Entity Search: search and filter for parts in a 3D assembly based on a variety of native file attributes [selection status, type (body, part, assembly…), PMI (Product Manufacturing Information), location and more]. Results can be inspected, transformed, colorized and exported. This time-saving feature makes it quick and easy to zero in on a part from a list of thousands.
  • Native File Properties: Access native camera positions and views saved in SolidWorks, Catia V5, Pro/E and Unigraphics CAD systems; Extended PMI support for Pro/E, Catia V5, Unigraphics, DirectModel JT.
  • New 3D Usability:
    - Select and highlight parts from a 3D BOM
    - Call up part entity properties with a double click
    - Select identical parts in an assembly using right-mouse button
    - Choose one or more parts, select “hide rest” to inspect or isolate those selected parts from others in the assembly
    - Switch quickly between measurement tools using newly adapted snapping buttons in the measurement dialog box
  • Render the model in several 3D modes including shaded model, wireframe, silhouette and hidden line removal.
  • View 2D modes and drafts of models.

  • Color and highlight different parts of assemblies.

  • Generate and export BOMs (Bills of Material)

  • Support for GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) data

  • Support for PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) data

  • Calculate mass properties for the whole or part of the model, including center of gravity, moments of inertia, inertia tensor and many more.

  • The mass properties default option is precise measurement based on boundary representation (B-reps). You can also measure using tessellation.

  • Measure the minimum distance between any two points on a model or part.

  • Perform precise measurements on all dimensions, including angles, arcs, circles, surface area, distance, and cumulative distance.

  • Snapping lets you precisely locate edges, vertices mid-edges etc. so that your measurements will be exact.

  • Transform model parts independently of one another. This essential feature gives you the versatility necessary to explore different configurations, move parts out of the way to better view hidden areas of the model, and break an assembly down into its components.

  • Section models or parts of models using user defined section planes and export the section edges as a separate file.

  • Define the light settings, with options such as light direction, color and type.

  • Color-code parts or make them visible or hidden for ease of distinction.

  • Standard 3D views are available including isometric and perspective views. You can also define your own views.
